Current Projects

  • The Point (2004-present) - Design services for a community development corporation in the South Bronx.
  • Red Hook Food Vendors (2008-present) - Ideas competition for a new marketplace for the food vendors in Red Hook Park.
  • The Shield Institute (2009) - Design services for a a nonprofit organization in the Bronx that provides education and services to developmentally disabled children and adults.
  • AFHny Studio (2009) - An initiative to help architects and designers define and tackle local and global issues.

Past Projects

  • ABC No Rio (2004-05) - Participatory design charrettes and design services for an arts and activism collective on the Lower East Side.
  • BCI Shelter (2006-08) - Partition design/build and medical space renovation for a homeless services facility in Morningside Heights.
  • Biloxi (2006-09) - After Hurricane Katrina, AFHny volunteers traveled to Mississippi to assist with the Architecture for Humanity Model Home Program.
  • Branch (2009) - Call For Ideas to create a temporary Sunday library on an underutilized parking lot in Fort Greene.
  • FlyNY (2009) - Kite design competition and flying event, with proceeds to benefit AFHny projects.
  • Gowanus Boathouse (2005-07) - Site analysis and conceptual studies for a boathouse on the Gowanus Canal.
  • Habitat for Humanity (2009) - Collaboration with Habitat for Humanity New York to design and build outdoor furniture and play equipment for a Habitat project in Brooklyn.
  • High Bridge (2005-09) - Work with the NYC Parks Department and Partnerships for Parks to study reopening Highbridge in Upper Manhattan / The Bronx.
  • Park(ing) Day NYC 2008 (2008) - As part of an annual, multi-city event, AFHny volunteers turned a parking space on the Upper East Side into a small park for one day.
  • Parsons Highbridge Class (2009) - Partnership with Parsons The New School for Design to create an introductory studio that uses Highbridge Park as a project site.
  • SPICE (2005) - Photo auction to raise money for post-tsunami reconstruction efforts in Sri Lanka.
  • What if New York City (2008) - Design competition for post-disaster provisional housing in New York City.
